Field Beneath the Ridge

This 14" x 11" original plein air oil painting captures a farmer’s field dotted with round hay bales, set against the distant rise of an escarpment. Overhead, storm clouds gather and move across the horizon, shifting the light and adding weight to the scene. The contrast between the warm field and the cooler, unsettled sky creates a strong sense of depth and atmosphere.

Painted on location, the piece reflects the immediacy of changing weather and the quiet tension before a storm. The hay bales anchor the foreground, while the escarpment and sky draw the eye outward, giving the landscape both structure and mood.

Because each piece is created or printed to order, all sales are final. Original paintings, prints, and canvas wraps cannot be returned or exchanged unless they arrive damaged or defective. In the rare event that your artwork is damaged in transit, please contact mike@paintingsbymike.ca within 48 hours of delivery with your order details and clear photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement for prints or work with shipping insurance for originals.
