Intersection Sunset

Whenever I called on my dad, he showed up, no hesitation. Come hell or high water, he was there. That’s what I remember.

Since my Dad passed, I’ve come to see how much of my own fathering is rooted in the example he set. The night I saw this sunset, I was stopped at an intersection on my way to pick up my daughter from school. She had called, hoping to come home that evening for reading week. I didn’t hesitate. On route I sat at an intersection, in front of that barn, watching the sun set behind a massive cloud. I caught myself thinking these drives are exactly what he for me.

I’m blessed with a beautiful family, both here and gone. Dad still shows up — in memories, in quiet pauses, in moments like that intersection between past and present.

He still picks me up.
Just in a different way now.

Every order is carefully prepared to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Original paintings are securely packaged and shipped within 5–7 business days, while prints and canvas wraps are made to order and dispatched within 7–10 business days. All shipments are fully insured, tracked worldwide, and handled with the utmost care, with local pickup available in Nova Scotia.

Because each piece is created or printed to order, all sales are final. Original paintings, prints, and canvas wraps cannot be returned or exchanged unless they arrive damaged or defective. In the rare event that your artwork is damaged in transit, please contact mike@paintingsbymike.ca within 48 hours of delivery with your order details and clear photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement for prints or work with shipping insurance for originals.
