Painfully Cold

Initially, I wasn’t going to paint this scene.

A day after trudging through this frozen wasteland to take this photo, my knee gave out. I knew it wasn’t a serious injury, no tear, but it kept me off my feet for two weeks.

That pause became the push.

I felt compelled to return to this place on canvas, to capture the isolation and quiet curiosity stirred by a lone building standing in the middle of a cornfield by a frozen pond. There’s something about this place, weathered, holding stories without ever telling them.

I call it “Painfully Cold”.

Every order is carefully prepared to ensure it arrives in perfect condition. Original paintings are securely packaged and shipped within 5–7 business days, while prints and canvas wraps are made to order and dispatched within 7–10 business days. All shipments are fully insured, tracked worldwide, and handled with the utmost care, with local pickup available in Nova Scotia.

Because each piece is created or printed to order, all sales are final. Original paintings, prints, and canvas wraps cannot be returned or exchanged unless they arrive damaged or defective. In the rare event that your artwork is damaged in transit, please contact mike@paintingsbymike.ca within 48 hours of delivery with your order details and clear photos of the damage. We will arrange a replacement for prints or work with shipping insurance for originals.
